Pizza Margherita

Sometimes the simplest pizzas are the most satisfying. This classic Margherita combines a crisp, airy base with rich tomato sauce, melted mozzarella and fresh basil. Clean, fresh flavours come together in just a few minutes, making this a timeless favourite straight from the BBQ pizza oven.

Ingredients

1 pizza dough ball (see Basic Pizza Dough recipe)
Tomato sauce
Mozzarella
Fresh basil
Olive oil

Preparation

Fire up your Grill Guru or pizza oven and preheat to 400–450°C.

Stretch the pizza dough into a thin, even base, making sure to keep a slightly thicker edge for a nice crust. 

Spread a layer of tomato sauce over the base and top with pieces of mozzarella. 

Carefully transfer the pizza to the hot oven or pizza stone and bake for a few minutes, until the crust is crisp and golden and the cheese is bubbling. 

Remove from the BBQ or pizza oven and finish with fresh basil leaves and a drizzle of olive oil. 

Serve immediately, straight from the grill or pizza oven, while hot and full of flavour.
